Grand Prize: Coralia’s Hidden Treasure Chest

Coralia’s hidden treasure chest, inspired by Rising Tide. Real-world coordinates reveal the location where she hid her chest. The physical treasure chest will not be at the physical location. The treasure chest is designed to feel like a mermaid’s lost trove, containing only physical items tied to the lore and themes of the novel. The treasure can be discovered by anyone by deciphering clues hidden exclusively within the book.

Treasure Contents

Cash Reward or Gift Certificate: 

• A monetary prize or high-value gift card as part of the treasure.

Coralia’s Letter:

• A copy of Coralia’s letter to her descendant. The letter itself will be elegantly styled, resembling ancient parchment or mystical scrolls, with flowing text and illustrations tied to the story.

A Mermaid’s Artifact:

• The chest could contain a mermaid artifact such as a handcrafted, one-of-a-kind artifact inspired by the novel, such as a “pearl of the tides,” an intricately detailed miniature Blue Diamond Castle, or a replica of Coralia’s necklace.

Antique Coins and Gems:

• A collection of vintage coins, faux or real, mixed with decorative “gems” to evoke the feel of a true mermaid’s hoard.

Sealed Message from the Author:

• A personalized, wax-sealed letter from the author, congratulating the winner and sharing exclusive insights about the story and its inspiration.

Decorative Keepsakes:

• Items such as a seashell-encrusted trinket box, a small globe of “enchanted water,” or other unique treasures tied to the ocean and the book’s themes.

Requirements to Win

Complete the Treasure Hunt:

• Solve all clues to reveal the final coordinates.
• The final clue directs participants to the website or requires them to submit the coordinates for validation.
• The treasure coordinates, along with all other participating details must be completed by the participant to claim the main prize. Only the person who finds the coordinates will be eligible to receive the physical contents.

Creative Submission:

• Submit a creative entry tied to the novel (e.g., fan art, mermaid myth creation, mermaid poem or short video, etc.) showcasing a personal connection to Rising Tide to the author’s email @[email protected].
• The submission should incorporate themes from the novel, such as mythology, selkies, mermaids, love, or the sea.
• Create a social media post and share submission tagging the author and using the hashtag #risingtidetreasurehunt.

Social Media Engagement:

• Share posts documenting the treasure hunt journey using specific hashtags like #risingtidetreasurehunt.
• Encourage community engagement by sharing progress, solutions, or creative interpretations.

Hunt Mechanics

The hunt will have three stages (beginner, intermediate, and advanced), with each stage unlocking progressively larger prizes. Players must solve hidden clues, or interpret riddles scattered across the book:

The Book:

• Coordinates will be embedded exclusively within the text of the book (e.g., hidden in chapter titles, text, page numbers, quotes in the book, images or descriptions).
• Each chapter will contain one coordinate.
• Clues will get progressively harder as the book progresses (beginner, intermediate, and advanced).
• Readers must carefully analyze the story, chapter titles, and descriptions to solve the mystery. These clues lead readers on a journey to uncover the treasure’s real-world location coordinates.

Companion Website:

• Participants will be able to input coordinate answers to each clue to see if they are correct.
• They can track their progress on a downloadable sheet.

Social Media Hints:

• The author may occasionally post subtle hints or nudges on social media and newsletters to keep the excitement alive, but these will not reveal explicit new clues.
• Players can post their progress with hashtags like #risingtidetreasurehunt to proceed.

Eligibility for the Prize:

• Readers collect all the clues and piece them together to uncover the secret coordinates.
• The coordinates grant eligibility to receive the grand prize, which will be hosted on the authors website.
• Participants are required to email the author and present their completed treasure hunt answers, the final coordinates and place of the hidden treasure chest, reviews, book purchases, socials follows and creative submission to confirm eligibility for the Grand Prize.

Receiving the Prize:

• Upon verification, a winner will be chosen and the winner’s photo and story will be shared across the book’s promotional channels.
• The grand prize will be distributed via mail to the participant who solves the puzzle. 
• All additional prize winners must submit required items to the author’s email to be eligible for prizes as well.

Progression

Each stage will feature increasing difficulty:

• Beginner (Chapters 1–10): Simple clues embedded in quotes, chapter titles, or text patterns.
• Intermediate (Chapters 11–20): More complex clues involving numbers, word puzzles, and patterns across multiple chapters.
• Hard (Chapters 21–28): Challenging riddles and puzzles requiring readers to combine clues, analyze text deeply, or solve logical sequences.

Final Revelation

All the clues combined makeup the numbers of the coordinates. Once input in the website it will unlock a letter from Coralia to her descendant about her being the Savior. And reveal the treasure in the chest.

What the Clues Reveal:

• As readers solve all 28 clues, they piece together fragments (numbers, words, or phrases) that ultimately point to the coordinates of the treasure chest.

Final Validation:

• Winners will be required to present their completed treasure hunt answers (downloadable doc), pictures of reviews, book purchases, socials follows and creative submission to confirm eligibility for the Grand Prize to the authors email (author.chelcoleman), once all items are completed.
